I stayed at a charming ryokan in Yamanouchi and had a fantastic experience. The owner was incredibly helpful, even giving us a lift to the monkey park and providing a map of recommended restaurants. The traditional rooms were cozy, with good heating and comfortable futons. The inn had its own natural hot spring baths, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely choose this ryokan.
Would recommend this hotel.

The tatami mats and sliding doors were beautiful and gave a cozy and authentic feel. The common areas were accessible for senior people like me, with comfortable seating and clear signage. It was easy to navigate and find my way around, which made my stay more enjoyable.
I would have liked to see more assistance from the staff in helping senior guests with their luggage. It would have been nice if the children working there offered to carry the bags or provide a luggage trolley.

I absolutely loved the traditional Japanese decoration of the ryokan. The tatami mats and sliding doors gave it a very authentic feel. The general areas such as the lobby and the gardens were so peaceful and serene, perfect for senior people like me to relax and enjoy. , the hotel's accessibility for senior people was impressive. The owner and the staff went above and beyond to assist me and ensure my comfort throughout my stay. It was truly a delightful experience.
I would have appreciated better signage in the hotel to help navigate around. The children working there were very helpful, but sometimes it was a bit challenging to find my way around the property.

We had a fantastic stay at a ryokan in Yamanouchi. the highlight for us was trying out Kyudo, Japanese archery. the ryokan had a dojo with an outdoor range where we learned the basics, witnessed a demonstration, and even got to fire some arrows. the host, who seemed to do everything, was amazing. He spoke English, ran the reception, made delicious breakfast, and taught Kyudo. the property was conveniently located just a short walk from the station. we enjoyed the onsen and got to wear traditional yukata robes around the property. it was an awesome and memorable experience. Cons: Liked everything about our stay! 😊.

The room at Uotoshi Ryokan was such a cozy haven for my family. The tatami floors and the Japanese-style futon bedding made us feel like we were truly experiencing traditional Japanese culture. It was a beautiful blend of comfort and authenticity!
Personally, we weren't big fans of the shared bathrooms. But hey, that's just our preference!
